25 Years in Aviation English

With over 25 years experience, teaching pilots to pass their ICAO English tests, Rachel has developed a streamlined training framework for Aviation English that works - even for pilots with limited time. 

Rachel has worked extensively in the area of English for ICAO compliance since the inception of the ICAO English proficiency requirement in 2005. She co-developed the Cathay Pacific ICAO English test with CAD acceptance, and was one of only two raters approved in Hong Kong by 2008.

At FTE Jerez (FTO) in Spain Rachel led the Aviation English Department and developed the first ICAO English test to be accepted by the UKCAA.

Rachel participated in the ICAO-ICAEA Rated Speech Samples Training Aid project in 2011 and is internationally recognized as a rater who meets ICAO standards.

During her time at FTE Jerez Rachel worked extensively with Qatar Airways on the implementation of their cadet pilot and second officer selection process.

Back at Cathay Pacific in 2012 Rachel was responsible for the outsourcing and management of the ICAO English test and annual audits and the design, development and delivery of the intensive ICAO English Training course.
